I seem to be on a “Latino” theme today, with this article by Elianne Ramos on the ‘new’ “Wise Latina” (new as in it doesn’t exist until marketing acknowledges or coins a term for it…tell that to Sonia Sotomayor and Elianne’s grandma Mama Clara) as well as this Call for Artists from the Belas-Artes gallery in St. Louis, for “Lazos” (Relationship/Ties), 2009 Latino Art Festival.
As part of the celebrations of the Hispanic Heritage month, Belas Artes Multicultural Center & Art Gallery (Belas Artes) is preparing for its 4th Latino Art Festival. This year the theme is “LAZOS” which means relationship or ties. Latinos/Hispanics are characterized by warm, friendly, and affectionate relationships (lazos). The exhibition will run from September 13th through October 11th 2009 and feature Fine Art Exhibit, Workshop, Music and Dance Performances, Celebrating the Hispanic Heritage, Richness and Contributions.
Belas Artes has been acknowledged by the private and public sectors and is the proud recipient of a Proclamation from the US Congress, recognizing the quality of programs and the positive contributions offered to the St. Louis community.
