Some hobbies are small and contained. Others involve big trucks and pulley’s and airplanes! Intercultural Spark caught up with Taras Lyssenko of A & T Recovery–which specializes in recovering WWII aircraft from the bottom of Lake Michigan.
As the pilots stationed at the Glen Ellen Naval Base (including George Bush Sr.) learned, it takes practice to learn how to land a plane on an aircraft carrier.
Taras gives families ideas for things to do this summer (a visit to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo or the Experimental Aircraft Association’s big air show in Osh Kosh late July) as a new lead into a previously recorded interview replete with stories of the planes documented in his book, The Great Navy Birds of Lake Michigan.
